Happy Friday everyone!!!
This is Mariam Mimi and I am SO happy to announce a few awesome things I’ll be doing this month!
Firstly, I am participating in the #Mentalong organized by booktuber BookLikeLieke. It is a mental illness awareness read a long where every one participating reads at least ONE book about mental illness. So many adults, and kids, suffer from anxiety, depression, autism, or other mental illnesses — oftentimes they are either ignored, parents tell them they’ll get over it without offering help, or refuse to take them to a mental health specialist for fear they will be made fun of by their friends. This is wrong, and happens mostly because since we don’t suffer from these cases ourselves, we don’t know how to handle it. I think reading more books about will help us be empathetic to those around use who are hurting from this, or have at some point in their lives.
Leike shares a little of her own experience in her video and I think she does a great job of giving an overview of this problem and her awesome read a long :
My book for this will be A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon.
HARRY POTTER BOOKS! YES!
So, I stumbled across this while doing a google search! There is a Harry Potter read a thon going on which started February 1st — going on until May 31st! If you have never read the Harry Potter series — get on it! I finally finished it last month and it has quickly become my FAVORITE series of ALL TIME 🙂 I really love it.
There will be discussions, trivia, and games on the girls blog throughout the next three months which I’ll be taking part in!
PLUS, I will be joining the Out-of-Hand TBR challenge with Olivia and Sarah. I’ve read at the most 14 books per month, and will be challenging myself to 10 books for each month for this year! If I meet my goal I will get one point per book! I love to challenge myself, so this is right down my alley….DIAGON alley. 😀 haha, Harry Potter Pun. Sorry, couldn’t help myself!
I will be posting all of my reading challenges updates on a blog which I created at the end of January. You can check it out here: https://booksattheferretburrow.wordpress.com/
I will have posts on my instagram later today if you’d like to check that out, until then, have a great Friday!
