I had an AMAZING time participating in #HarryXMasToYou! Thanks to Maureen Keavy for organizing it. Also Sana, Dylan, Katie, Max, Raeleen for hosting. It gave me a chance to catch up with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the good ‘ol gang at Hogwarts!
I was able to get some movies from my local library and watched the rest at my friend’s house who is a big Harry Potter fan. We even played “Heads-Up” – an app and game by Ellen DeGeneres — with some Harry Potter-themes. We called out Taboo-styled and acted-out Charades-style while our team mates tried to guess the words on our head like the characters, Diagon Alley, Expelliarmus and other spells.
I watched all of the movies with the exception of The Chamber of Secrets — because my friend’s DVD just wasn’t working. With my busy schedule in December I wasn’t able to read all the books, but got a good deal into Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I plan on reading the rest during the Trees of Reverie Read-a-thon for New Years Day Eve/Day, and Bout of Books 12.
I really liked Sana and Max’s videos — the Draco/Harry interview from the Prisoner of Azkaban by Sana and Dylan’s own TriWizard tournament trivia . Also I thought Max’s Slug Bug Party prep video was fun and cute!
Overall I think they did a fantastic job and I had such a great time participating in #HarryXMasToYou this year!
Also for 2015, I was thinking this morning that I felt like I had a ginormous reading list, it was overwhelming and I wasn’t motivated to read. I noticed a few people are reading books and theme-ing their months. So I decided to do the same. Below are the genres I plan to read in for each month in 2015.
- JANUARY – Paranormal
- FEBRUARY – Steam/Cyber Punk
- MARCH – Fantasy
- APRIL – Realistic Fiction
- MAY – Fables, Fairytales, Folklore
- JUNE – Westerns & Slave Stories
- JULY – History & Historical Fiction
- AUGUST – Mystery & Crime Fiction
- SEPTEMBER – Feminism
- OCTOBER – Shakespeare & Poetry
- NOVEMBER – Science-Fiction
- DECEMBER – ???
I’ll be posting a video about this new exciting Genre-rama on my channel this week, so look out for that! As you can see, there is no genre for December, I left it open because I can’t think of one. I may do #HarryXmasToYou again if Maureen is organizing it. But, I may choose another genre to read that month. I will open it up to you guys to help me decide. Leave your comments below if you have any ideas!
Also, you are welcome to join me! I will leave details as to how you can get involved HERE.
As far as photo challenges and this December goes, I did the #DecBookPic challenge done by @BookTubeUpdates and was doing sooo well until going on vacation on 25th of December — when I went to Atlanta to visit friends and didn’t have my bookshelf with me. 😦 I had to double up when I missed posting that day just because I was lazy or forgot. So overall I completed 25 days out of the 31 — including my final photo which I’ll be posting later today! Not bad if I do say so myself 😀
I’m still doing the Instagram Year-End read-a-thon started by Pottermorebooks which ends December tonight. So a GREAT BIG shout-out to the girls who organized it! It was my first Instagram (aka Bookstagram) Read-a-thon and it helped me get to where I am now at 34/72 as far as my reading goals! I’m sprinting to get a head start on my January goals at the Trees of Reverie 28-hour-read-a-thon tonight at 8:00 PM and you are all welcome to join! If you are in the Eastern time zone or in the USA, we can chat through twitter as I’ll be posting my hourly updates there on my Twitter: @emancipatedmimi
